Shopping on St. Thomas

The USVI is a Shoppers’ Paradise

If you like to shop, then the Virgin Islands is truly a dream vacation. St. Thomas has long been known around the world as a premiere shopping destination in the Caribbean.

While you’re here be sure to carve out time to visit our several retail hubs on island lined with merchants offering the finest of jewelry – since that’s our trademark – as well as stylish fashion, home décor, island art, souvenirs and more.

Downtown Charlotte Amalie is one of the most famous shopping districts in the Caribbean. So, don’t miss the chance to stroll Main Street that’s steeped in history and elegance.

But there are other shopping districts that should not be missed. Yacht Haven Grande, where luxury yachts moor and dock, offers upscale shops as well as dining along the harbor waterfront.

With a bustling cruise ship presence, both shopping centers near the St. Thomas docks offer robust shopping for a broad array of merchandise. Havensight Mall has a bright new look and welcoming merchants. Crown Bay Center too boasts some of the name retailers you see downtown as well as some only found there. American Yacht Harbor and Red Hook boast some cool little boutiques as well.

While there are seemingly endless retail shops, we recommend those found on these pages. This magazines roots go back 60 years on the islands and most of the merchants you see here have been around for decades as well. They are merchants we know and you can trust.

Diamonds International got its start on St. Thomas more than 30 years ago and now has blossomed into more than 100 locations and is one of the largest jewelry retailers in the world.

Coined “the flagship jeweler of the Virgin Islands” since it’s been around since 1954, Cardow Jewelers is a favorite with visitors and locals alike.

When you walk into Trident Jewels & Time, you find yourself in the midst of exquisite jewelry and watches, most notably Ulysse Nardin.

George at House of Rajah is a favorite with visitors having been on St. Thomas for more than 45 years. Not only does he have whatever you desire, he loves to talk about his favorite things to see and do on the island. You’ll find him just steps off Main Street on Raadets Gade.

Mike and Bobby’s Jewelers love being “your Family Jeweler in the Caribbean.” He’s moved and can now be found in the first two blocks of Main Street.

But be sure to venture past the first couple of blocks of Main Street for there you will find both established jewelers and a fresh new boutique.

Eden Jewelers and Eden Living offer one of the more interesting stores on St. Thomas. Not only can you find fine jewelry and GIA gemologist Sunil and his wife Kanchan, you will find a colorful and engaging assortment of local and global artisan décor, art, fashion, accessories and more in the Living part of the boutique.

Another recently combined store brings together two legacy jewelry stores into a merged family operation at Dynasty Dazzlers where “Uncle Charlie’s” Imperial Jewelers has moved across Main Street.

And while there are many familiar faces and brands downtown, there is also a stylish new boutique Jewels by Kris. While his St. Thomas store is new, Kris is an experienced and GIA credentialed jeweler with a store in Alaska as well. He aims for personalized service and brings some of specialty jewelry and brands not common on St. Thomas.

A particularly “charming” shopping experience can be found just steps from Main Street on Garden Street. Sandal Man Sunil Mohanani’s Get Charmed Factory Outlet offers the famous flip-flop you can wear around your neck plus “a multitude of fanciful pendants” and charms.

Another hidden treasure is The Pearl Lady next to Fort Christian with a full selection of pearls ranging from Japanese Akoya and South Seas to Tahitian and Freshwater Cultured varieties.

And for a vast variety of brand boutiques Little Switzerland boasts multiple locations Downtown, at Havensight Mall and Crown Bay Center. In addition to their main stores, they also have multiple boutiques ranging from Tiffany & Co and David Yurman to Brietling, Patek Philippe, Omega, Tag Heuer and Cartier.

And don’t forget St. John. Mongoose Junction offers a variety of shopping from fashion and jewelry to art and specialty items in one of the most enchanting shopping environments you’ll see.

As you shop, you may notice we are still making post-hurricane improvements. So please pardon our progress. While many stores boast fresh new looks this year, inside are experienced jewelers and merchants that we know and trust …. And you should too!
